jia's tmi time: why TOOL means a lot to me (both the JP and KR version)

so last week day6 came to my country for their Gravity concert and i finally, finally got to see them after three long years of waiting.

i'm not overly strict when it comes to spending money for concerts (and neither are my parents thankfully) but before this, whenever day6 was coming here for fanmeetings or concerts, there were always things barring me from seeing them. sometimes it's my personal budget. other times it's schedule. bit of a sad story: when they came here for the very first time, i actually went to the venue to meet up with my friends, and return home when the show was about to start. during the hour-long train ride home, i listened to day6 songs and words can't even explain how hurt i was at that time.

but anyway, i persevered. i tried to hold on to the belief that my first time seeing them will be meaningful. i believed that i would be able to see them with good feelings, not ashamed with the way i look, not ridden with guilt over spending money, not feeling like i don't deserve the happiness.

so that's why when i heard the second verse (young k and wonpil's parts), i became very emotional. i stanned day6 since their debut. they saw me graduate university, took the leap to turn my life around, started making efforts to have a body that is easier to love, graduate again with a masters degree, and get a job in a field i love. i was able to see them for the first time with the money i saved up from my actual salary instead of my monthly allowance. 

to understand that my efforts are acknowledged in the song and then being able to hear the song live - whew. i think i'm gonna cry.

anyway, this tmi part is getting too long - i'll stop here. one last thing i'm gonna say in this post is i'm happy. i made a lot of effort to see them and i did not regret it one bit. and i'm thankful that i get to know them, to have them support me through their songs.

if anyone reading this is in the same position as me three years ago - hang in there.
